The state of Kuwait is an integral part of this worldwide network. It has three commercial ports (Shuwaikh, Shuaiba, and Doha) each one being an essential facilitator of this nation’s economic progress. All are operated by the Kuwait Ports Authority (KPA), a public sector body run on a commercial basis under the authority of the Ministry of Communications. 

KPA History

Kuwait ports Authority (KPA) has been responsible for the management and operations at Doha and Shuwaikh since 1977, with Shuaiba a more recent addition, joining the portfolio in 1986. The authority is accountable for all aspects of Kuwait’s commercial harbors operations, including the construction and maintenance of quays. It also ensures the supply and integrity of all necessary equipment for port activities and its further charged with developing facilities and operations, including the training of staff. 

KPA STRATEGY

The Kuwait Port Authority’s vision is to build a physically and procedurally advanced Ports system that will cater to the needs of Kuwait and its trading sphere. By initiating new projects in all sectors concerning Maritime trade (technology, maritime operations, civil work and more). The Kuwait Ports Authority’s main goal is that of H.H. The Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah, to make Kuwait a Financial and Commercial Hub by the year 2035. We at the Ports Authority see that the development of Kuwait’s Ports would be the spearhead of achieving H.H. The Emir’s vision of making Kuwait a Financial and Commercial Hub.
