01 August 2021

Kuwait (1/8/2021): KPA Contracts Committee headed by Director General Yousef Abdullah Al-Sabah agreed on the proposal he submitted to establish an EV-City, the first Electric Vehicle Manufacturer service city in the Middle East located in the State of Kuwait.

Al-Sabah said Kuwait Ports Authority is capable of offering all logistics and ports services to the large Electric Vehicle Manufacturing Companies from around the world.

Leading companies in the electric vehicle industry operates through a different commercial framework of direct sales through its electronic platforms without relying on an agent or local distributor. Provided that those companies are established around the globe by direct investment with 100% ownership.

Al-Sabah added that a common practice adopted by various international ports is to offer logistical and infrastructure services for all types of factories and manufacturing plants.

This proposal is aligned with KPA’s strategic plans to develop its ports within the next few years regionally and internationally to become a roadmap to reach and achieve its core objectives thus contributing to the advancement of work efficiency on logistical, service, developmental, and schematic levels in congruence with its “Kuwait vision 2035” to transform Kuwait into a financial and commercial centre that attracts investments and promotes competition, all while optimizing the operations efficiency to achieve sustainable development.
He also added that this project is to be submitted for design and construction within the fiscal year of 2021/2022
